The following is translated from a Yiddish copy of the Articles of Faith. The Yiddish copy was dated March 1, 1939. The official English edition used by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be read here.
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Yeshua Messiah, and in the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that people will be punished for their own sins, and not for another man’s faults.
- We believe that through the atonement of Messiah all mankind can be saved, through obedience to the Law and the Commandments of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and commandments of the Gospel are: First, believe in Adonai Yeshua Messiah; Second, repentance; Second, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; and Fourth, lay hands for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that a person must be called by God, through prophecy and the laying on of hands by those who have authority, to teach the Gospel and administer the Commandments thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, messengers, prophets, pastors, teachers, preachers, and so on.
- We believe in the gifts of languages, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpreting languages, and so on.
- We believe that the Bible contains the words of God as far as it is correctly translated; we also believe that the Book of Mormon contains God’s word.
- We believe in all that God has preserved, all that he tells now, and we believe that he will still preserve many great and important things about the Kingdom of God.
- We believe in the actual gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built on the American continent; that Messiah will personally reign on earth; and that the earth will be renewed and receive its heavenly beauty.
- We desire the right to worship El Shaddai according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all people the same right, to worship as, where, or what they may.
- We believe in obeying kings, presidents, rulers and judges, in obeying, respecting and supporting the laws of the land.
- We believe in being honest, true, pure, gentle, virtuous, and doing good to all people; indeed, we can say that we follow Paul’s advice today – we believe all things, we hope all things, we have gone through many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is something virtuous, beautiful, or of good reputation or praiseworthy value, we seek after these things.
